What is the objective of the exercise?
Emotions are important for communication, it is important to be able to recognize them. The better we recognize emotions, the easier it is to communicate. The aim of this exercise is to identify emotions correctly. The task helps to recognize emotions and understand how the other person feels.
What is the method to be used?
The trainers prepare photos /pictures, on which the main emotion are captured.
Photos / pictures are shown to the participants. The participants must try to recognize and name emotions.
Later one of the participant pulls out a photo /a picture with captured emotion. He/she does not show the others what he has pulled out. The participant performs an emotion. Other participants must recognize and name the emotion that was performed.
Having guessed the emotion another participant performs.
The task is discussed:
– Is it easy to recognize emotions?
– what kind of emotions it is easier to recognize?
– what kind of emotions it is difficult to recognize?
– what emotions do you feel?
– when do you feel the named emotions?
What are the materials needed?
Photos / pictures with the basic emotions.
Tips for the trainers/additional information
The trainer together with a co-trainer chooses emotions which should be involved in this task. You can also use more emotions, not just the basic ones.
It is possible to prepare more questions for discussion of the task.
