What can be the role of a Peer-Trainer with intellectual disability?

The peer-trainer can display the material.
The peer-trainer can tell

when he has been in a situation in which private life was in question.

What is the objective of the exercise?

Make the difference between private and public
Understand that one should think before communicating information

What is the method to be used?

The trainer questions the trainees:
What is private life ?
What is public life ?
The peer-trainer splits the board in two parts: Private and public
The peer-trainer displays illustrations on each side
For example family in private
Bus driver in public

The trainer prepares pieces of paper with rather private information
The peer-trainer distributes the pieces of paper
The trainees display the information on the board and decide whether his information is public or private

The trainer creates a debate
What information should we keep private?

What are the materials needed?

Pieces of paper with informations : “I’m going to have a surgery” “I like to go to the cinema”
Pictures of people that you can simply identify : a bus driver, a family, a doctor.

Tips for the trainers/additional information

Prepare different situations in which privacy is important. It will help to animate the debates.
