to getting to know each other
at the begining of the training.
It allows people to speak about themselves.

What can be the role of a Peer-Trainer with intellectual disability?

The peer-trainer presents his self-portrait
and gives instructions
The peer-trainer hands out the material.

What is the objective of the exercise?

  • Share personal elements
  • Be attentive to others

What is the method to be used?

The trainer asks the trainees to draw or paste elements representing them.
Following an individual work of 30-45 minutes the trainer gathers the work.
During the break, The peer-trainer hangs the drawings in the room.
The peer-trainer pastes an open envelop next to each drawing.

The trainees should identify the author of each drawing
The peer-trainer hands out an envelop to each participant in the envelope, photos of all participants.
The trainees slip the corresponding photo in the envelope
The trainer displays a board with the trainee’s photos under each self-portrait.
The peer-trainer opens the envelopes and writes down the votes results on the board
The trainees who found the matching author explain the clues that helped them identify the author
Each participant presents their self portrait to the group

What are the materials needed?

  • Magazines
  • Scissors/glue
  • Drawing paper
  • Enveloppes
  • Portrait pictures of the trainees

Tips for the trainers/additional information

If a trainee doesn’t know what to choose for his portrait, the trainer and the peer-trainer can ask questions : What do you like to do when you have free time ?
